Summer Fall line
Hey Folks,
Here's another suggestion for the summer: 101 Reykjavik by an Icelandic guy,
Hallgrimur Helgason. I've heard some good things about it -- the narrator is a kind of slacker --but one of those funny ones with an attitude and insight (at least that's what I've heard. I haven't read it yet. One drawback is that it doesn't seem to be readily available.
I'm also gonna make a couple of suggestions for a fall book. Both books are abut New Orleans, which ties in to the Community Book Connection for next year. The frst is The Moviegoer by Walker Percy. The second is A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Both of these books are very humorous. CoD is of course a classic of literary comedy, while the MG is more subtle. Both are outstandng
OK. Those are just some thoughts. Bring your vote to the meetng Friday, May 11.
